Подобной безоттепельной зимы в Северной столице не было последние полвека: в последний раз оттепелей ни в январе, ни в феврале не фиксировали лишь 55 лет назад. Выше нуля температура прежде не поднималась либо только в январе (это было в 1987, 1996, 2004 и 2010 годах), либо в феврале (в 1985, 1986, 1994 и 2018 годах).
